In the Church of Scotland, ministers are authorised to conduct weddings, regardless of whether the couple are church members. If neither partner is a member, it’s recommended to approach the minister of the parish where one resides or consult the local presbytery clerk for guidance on unclear boundaries.

The Church allows the remarriage of divorced individuals in certain circumstances, but discussions with the minister are essential.

A noteworthy development is the Church’s acceptance of same-sex marriages. Ministers and deacons, at their discretion, can now officiate same-sex weddings, reflecting the Church’s commitment to inclusivity and adapting to societal changes.  There is further information available on the Church of Scotland Website
