Jean is pictured with certificates celebrating her own and Anne Watson’s efforts in twinning some 25 toilets with Ardrishaig Parish Church.
Jean and Anne have also spent time developing an eco church – as a result the church won two awards.
Both are now retired due to a combination of ill health and carer duties.
Dalriada Mid Argyll Church is delighted to congratulate both ladies on their significant achievements.
Toilet Twinning is an initiative encouraging individuals to “twin” their own toilets with latrines in impoverished communities, drawing an analogy to the twin towns and sister cities movement. This initiative raises funds to provide clean water, proper sanitation facilities, and hygiene education to some of the world’s poorest regions. Participants receive a certificate featuring a photo of the twinned latrine, along with its location and GPS coordinates.Initially, Toilet Twinning was a collaborative effort between two international charities, Christian Outreach for Relief & Development (Cord) and Tearfund. Since its inception in 2010, it has become exclusively a charity under Tearfund, responding to the global sanitation crisis.
